The Official SpaceGAMBIT Kickoff Meeting will be Friday October 19th at NASA Ames in Mountain View, CA (southern tip of San Francisco Bay). Alex Cureton-Griffiths (UK Director) and myself (Jerry Isdale USA Director, lead) are traveling to California to attend, and visit some spaces and events. If you are in the areas, please come by and talk!
Here’s what we are doing:
Friday/Saturday Oct 12-13, Alex arrives from Shanghai and wanders around strange american city. Anyone want to play tour guide? I fly in late saturday.
Sunday Oct 14th East Bay Mini-Maker Faire 10am-5pm. We are going to give a lightning talk on stage at some point. Find us and we’ll do a popup version. This looks like it will be a great event, so you might have to tear us away from learning about some other awesome maker project.
Monday Oct 15th 7pm Crashspace Los Angeles - Crashspace is my original hackerspace and we are going to give our lightning talk, and then discuss with all who come round for it.
Tuesday Oct 16th 5:30pm Mojave Makers at the Mojave Air and Space Port
Wednesday Oct 17th return to SF Bay area in afternoon. Meetup?
Thursday Oct 18th 1-3pm TechLiminal Oakland for Open Source Collaboration Tools - We are taking this class – finding tools (and people) to help our mission. We are staying down in Mountain View area and hopefully getting over to BioCurious.
Friday Oct 19th Kickoff Meeting at NASA Ames. Invite only. The actual kickoff will be fairly short (1-2hr) and rest of the day will be meeting and talking with NASA folks and others from the area. If there is interest and time, contact me.
I fly back to Maui early saturday morning. Alex is hanging out until Monday Oct 22. He will be putting in an appearance at the Open Science Summit on Saturday Oct 20th. Anyone want to show this Brit around The Bay?
It will be a busy and exciting week. I am looking forward to meeting lots of people, learning and sharing.

Happy to meet you guys at NASA Ames today (Friday) and later at the Hacker Dojo in Mountain View.
It was a terrific week. We met a LOT of interesting people, there were some changes to the plan, but it worked out well I think. We will put out a trip report blog post soon.
